The subject test is behind us, and it was passed with strong notes from the experienced Michelin test driver. Now we move on to the “clinic tests,” where top speed and pressure are determined.
From the beginning, this step was a must to get the tire signed off. It’s not something you usually see in the tuning world, but nothing about this development is normal — yet another point where the KALMAR 9X9 sets itself apart from the standard approach.
During the first outings, the driver noted that the car was too aggressive on the front axle, something almost unheard of in rear-engined cars. The team made the necessary adjustments to reach the desired safety level, which impressed the Michelin test driver. Normally, Michelin needs to create a tire that meets the OEM’s demands, a task that takes months or years. We could instead make the car perfect for the great Michelin tires.
