By Roger Biermann “Last year, we reported that KALMAR Automotive had launched a new Porsche retromod called the 9X9 – a 959-inspired monster with up to 900 horsepower on tap. But we, and dozens of other sites, incorrectly labeled it as being based on the 992.1 Porsche 911 with significant backdating and custom bodywork. Boy, were we wrong. Speaking to company founder Jan Kalmar earlier this year, we learned that 9X9 isn’t a retromod (taking a new car and making it look old) at all. Technically, it’s a restomod based on an older generation of 911 – specifically the 993 – but the reality is that this is something so wholly developed and engineered that it’s almost not a Porsche at all, anymore.”
